SINGAPORE : The Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) was 64 at 4pm on Wednesday. The 24-hour reading was the highest so far this month. This puts Singapore's air quality in the moderate range. The Singapore GP said the possibility of haze is one of the many potential issues covered in the Singapore F1 race contingency plan. The race organiser added that if the haze causes visibility or operational issues, the primary concern will always be the safety and well being of participants both on and off the track. It will work closely with the International Automobile Federation and the relevant government agencies before making any decision regarding the event. The National Environmental Agency expects the air quality to remain in the moderate range over the next two days. However, it said an expected rise in shower activities in the region over the next few days may help to alleviate the haze situation. The agency said the haze is a result of the escalation of fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra due to dry weather conditions.
